You're really starting to piss me off.

I can understand having to be logged in to read a protected post, and if my cookie disappears, you need to verify I am allowed to see it, but PUBLIC POSTS?

I can't even email someone a link to a public post, anymore. They get told to log in, ON A DIRECT LINK.

WTF? I know you're feeling a little desperate for business, but this is not the way to keep people hanging around.

No love,

Me.

Has anybody used, or know someone who might have used Ariel Document Delivery? If so, would you/he/she mind sparing a few minutes to tell me all about it?

I would be indebted to you, forever. And ever.

Note, I chose radio buttons, because I want the MOST likely thing. What is the thing that -- above all else -- will make you walk/drive somewhere else?

Oh, and please -- if you would -- ask your friends to vote, too. I want as wide (if unscientific) a pool as possible, thanks.

Do any of you have experience with Photoshop Elements? How far beyond the basics of post-processing will it let me go?

I already have programs (including, but not limited to Picasa and The GIMP) that will let me crop, fix shadows and highlights, fix the exposure and do a few things with colour-shifting, not to mention the (oftimes cheesy) things of putting texts, borders and basic 'special effects' on pics. Will Elements let me move beyond the basics and start actually doing things with my pictures, or am I going to have to drop mega $$$ on CS4?

Oh, wise ones, do you know?

And yet it has. Someone asks 'how are you' and if you say "Okay"... it doesn't matter what tone of voice or inflection you use, 50-75% of the time the response is "just okay?"

What's wrong with okay? )

Funny how it happened to Comcast. Makes you wonder if T. Durden is listed on their payrolls, doesn't it?

Whatever else happens today, at least you're taking seriously what we did not.

Canada's last voter turnout was less than 60%.

Well done on getting out there.

For the last few days, and the next however many, I've had/will have essentially no internet. Just very limited (and very, very slow!) dial-up.

If there is anything you absolutely need/want me to see, comment with a link here, and I will get to it as soon as I can get to it.

Which will, hopefully, be soon. But I promise nothing.

'Tis a terrible thing to be forced to choose between a new book and an old job, knowing full well it is too late not to choose the job.

I'm doing a major, note MAJOR clean-up. This means getting rid of (tossing and/or donating depending on condition) a lot of clothing and stuff. The problem is I have too many books and not enough bookspace. (Of course, I agree with the esteemed Mr. Pratchett in that if you do have enough bookspace, I don't want to talk to you, but nevertheless...)

So, what do I do?

Should I...

Donate the books ('cause what's the likelihood of getting around to reading them, realistically and sharing the wealth is always good), and use the drawers to store clothing
3 (37.5%)

Throw out/donate more clothing and use spare drawer space for books.
5 (62.5%)

If you have another suggestion, I'd love to read it in the comments.

First... what a finish! Who couldn't want to see a dream like that come true? 8 golds in 8 events, seven world records... Well done Michael Phelps.

Now to wear my Canuck colours: of course it took us a while to start winning medals. BC's always running a little later than anyone else. It's a timezone thing. ;)

That's right, folks, 3 out of four medals are BC medals, including that gold. Take that Centre of the Universe!

I haven't watched a lot of the Olympics due to my insane-stupid work schedule, but damn it's been one for the books.

Are we out, or aren't we? I just want to know. I hate this not knowing what tomorrow will bring, when it's work.

One upside of a strike... Boss #2 (the evil one) can't boss me around.

Admit it, folks... we all have things we like to read that we wish we could check out from the library in plain brown wrappers. Things that we'd rather everyone not know we're reading, for one reason or another. It ain't just porn, people. Sometimes, it's simply what we can't get enough of, and are too much the literary snobs to admit it. I'll tell you mine, now you tell me yours. Anonymous posting is enabled for the truly shy.

Because Pixie is brave... possibly lunatic )

Perhaps you'll be more interesting... go ahead... I won't tell. (even if it says I'm recording your IP address because I'm too bloody lazy to much around with settings... I wouldn't know how to blackmail you with it, anyway).

Inspired by everybody's book reviews... now's your chance to promote the stuff you never normally would

I &hearts my Indy. Seriously, the people with such a hate for this movie? Simply don't get it.

Indiana Jones. )

Um YEAH, there's spoilers. And don't tell me it's my fault for putting it after the cut. You still couldn't see them till you clicked, and what kind of an idiot clicks a cut like that without expecting spoilers.

(P.S. Yes, I'm a fangirl, but the instant I end up with a phone that can do custom ringtones, I am so going to find a way to get the Indy theme as mine.)

Over at [info]celebrate_women, they've asked for posts about women of influence, of strength.

Okay, here goes.

Canadian Girls Kick Ass )

South of the Border, they've got style )

A World of Awesome )

Anyone looking for rolemodels should take a look around. Possibly in a mirror. There is no need to look far afield. Everything is right in front of you.

Strength. It's amazing where you find it.
